Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Oil and gas company PT Mubadala Petroleum handed over 14 LPG converter packages as assistance to fishermen in Hilir Muara Village, North Pulau Laut Subdistrict, Kotabaru.


The PT Mubadala Petroleum's External Relations and Communication Manager Budhy Chandra said on Friday this assistance was one of the company's social responsibility programs.

"This is a form of our support for government programs related to the conversion of fuel to gas," he explained.

The conversion of BBM to gas aims to improve fishermen's welfare through reducing costs for fuel by using of gas.

He advised the beneficiary fishermen to use and take care of the equipment that was given.

"If stage one is going well, it does not rule out the possibility that assistance will continue in the future," he added.

The assistance is given in one package with a boat engine and a three-kilogram LPG canister. Assistance was handed over directly to fishermen recipients in the village office hall. Submission of assistance is also followed by technical training on the use of tools.

Hilir Village Head Nurdin said he was very pleased with the attention given to fishermen in his area. "Hopefully this assistance will continue in the future," he hoped.

Meanwhile, Assistant III Kotabaru Syaiful Bahri representing the regent said fuel conversion to gas would help save fishermen's expenses.

"This assistance greatly helps the fishermen's economy due to high fuel prices," he said.
