Barabai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Hundreds of Silat and Kuntau warriors performances flashmob with martial art moves while delivering Save Meratus messages at the peak of the-59th anniversary of the Central Hulu Sungai (HST) in Dwi Warna Barabai Field, Thursday (12/27).
The performance amazed thousands of spectators. Even South Kalimantan Governor H Sahbirin Noor appreciated it and immediately went forward with Acting Regent and other important officials to congratulate, then having a photo together, and unfurled the words "Save Meratus".
The Chairperson of the HST Arts Council, through his treasurer Ernawati, as the producer of the show, said the martial arts players came from 10 schools (perguruan), namely Naga Saliwah, Hasyim Harimau Sambar Antang, Cancang Lima Saliwah, Bangkui School, White Lotus, Sinding Harimau Putih, and silat martial arts of PSHT, Black Cat, Al Wahid, and Nur Hati.
200 kuntau and silat players showcased the moves of each different school which were merged together in bapukul (fighting) scenes with bare hands and sharp weapons.
"This show is an effort to preserve the traditional Kuntau martial arts from the Banjar tribe so as not to become extinct," she said.
Regarding the scene that had made the crowd excited at the beginning of the show, she apologized, because she had previously not told people there was such a scene and was a surprise.
"This is a flash mob, one of the new forms in the art world with an appearance that indeed surprised everyone and we apologized. One side was considered dangerous, but on the other hand, we managed to display it," said Erna.
Meanwhile, flashmob director Fuad said it was not easy to unite the kuntau and silat movements, each of which had its own characteristics.
