Amuntai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - A remote school, SMA 1 Pamingir in North Hulu Sungai (HSU), South Kalimantan, seeking to win the Adiwiyata Mandiri School. But the condition is that it must build two other schools to become Adiwiyata (environmentally cultured) schools as well.
The principal of SMA 1 Paminggir Sukiman in Amuntai on Thursday said there are three schools ready to be built to become Adiwiyata schools, namely Islamic elementary school Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri (MIN) 9 Harusan, MIN 5 Babirik, and SMA 1 North Amuntai.
"Three schools said they are ready to be guided to become Adiwiyata schools. At the moment I am starting to do coaching," said Sukiman.
SMA 1 Paminggir, which he leads, even though is in a remote sub-district in HSU, but since 2017 has the status of a National Adiwiyata School.
In 2014 Sukiman claimed to have been confused about how his school in a remote sub-district with a limited number of students could become an Adiwiyata school.
"It takes four years of preparation until SMA 1 Paminggir can become a National Adiwiyata School," he said.
Finally, Sukiman saw the potential that other schools in urban areas did not have to develop. He used limited to school grounds and swamp waters around the school for the school environment program.
Sukiman was grateful, thanks to the support and cooperation of the Education Agency, Housing, Settlement and Environment Area Agency, and CSR assistance from PT Adaro Indonesia, finally SMA 1 Paminggir won the status of the National Adiwiyata School in 2017.
"Perhaps without the support of PT Adaro's CSR program it would be rather difficult for us to become an Adiwiyata School," he said.
Now SMA 1 Paminggir plans to become an Independent (Mandiri) Adiwiyata School, but the conditions for the principal and teachers of the school to build a minimum of two schools to become the district level Adiwiyata School.
