Barabai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - South Kalimantan still lack National Paralympic Committee (NPC) athletes in weightlifting.

"At present, South Kalimantan only has two excellent athletes in heavy lifting sports," said Deputy Chairman of the South Kalimantan NPC H Supian Nor when opening the South Kalimantan NPC Weightlifting Championship (Kejurprov) in Barabai, Central Hulu Sungai (HST), on Saturday.

According to him, the two athletes have often participated and won the same activities both at the provincial and national levels. For this reason, the cadre is needed if the athlete retires.

"The provincial championship aims to find the news-seeded paralympic athletes in heavy lifting sports," he said.

The Chairperson of the NPC HST H Nasyrudin said that the Kejurprov takes place for three days from December 21 to 23 at the HST Education Agency hall.

"Seven districts registered their weightlifters, the most athletes were Tabalong, followed by HSU, HSS, Tanah Laut, Batola, Banjar and HST as the host," he said.

Other districts and cities to follow until December 23 and the HST was chosen to carry out kejurprov in heavy lifting sports, while for other sports has been carried out in other districts and cities in South Kalimantan.

Acting Regent H A Chairansyah in his written remarks read by Acting Head of Sport, Youth and Tourism Agency H Amir Hasan hoped that the NPC program would foster solidarity among athletes in addition to hospitality.
