Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - South Kalimantan Regional Police and the ranks deployed 1,654 personnel to secure new year holidays with a code name Lilin Intan Operation 2018.


"The operation was held for 12 days starting December 21, 2018, until January 1, 2019, to secure Christmas and New Year," South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Insp. Gen Yazid Fanani remarked on Friday (12/21).

Marking the start of the operation, the Police Chief presided over the preparedness ceremony at the Banjarmasin Police headquarters yard. Not only from the internal police, but a number of elements were also present, from the TNI, Transportation Agency, Satpol PP to Scouts Saka Bhayangkara.

In addition to the core strength of the National Police, backup personnel is also deployed in routine operations at the end of each year. The number reached 660 joint TNI personnel and related stakeholders.

The Police Chief hopes the existing strength can provide maximum security for all community activities, including the smooth flow of traffic and sea and air transportation.

"Safeguarding the road to prevent fatal accidents and breaking down traffic become the focus of the traffic police. Then securing a number of objects, such as recreation areas, shopping centers and places of worship, is the duty of other function units, namely Sabhara and Brimob and plainclothes members," Yazid told reporters after the ceremony.

Accompanied by Traffic Director Sr. Comr. Muji Edyanto and Head of Public Relations Adj Sr Comr Mochamad Rifai, the police chief admitted that the security activities for the holiday season are long enough thus they require personnel preparedness.

There was something interesting in the ceremony when the police chief invited the entire Forkopimda (members regional leader communication forums) to check troops.

In fact, he asked the traffic police to turn on the engine of the patrol vehicle to ensure all devices, including rotate and the sirens, were functioning properly.

The 101 Antasari Military Commander Colonel Arm Syaiful Rahman, Banjarmasin Naval Base Commander Marine Colonel (P) Wijayanto, Sjamsudin Noor Air Base Commander Colonel Pilot Riadi Widyoko, South Kalimantan Chief Brigadier General Dono Indarto and Head of South Kalimantan Transportation Agency Rusdiansyah representing the Governor were some of the officials attended the ceremony.firman
