Batulicin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - South Kalimantan Hall of Land Transportation Management (BPTD) together with state-owned seaport operator PT ASDP Batulicin Branch reviewed the construction of docks on Sebuku Island and Teluk Gosong on Pulau Laut, Kotabaru.

Head of BPTD Ardono accompanied by PT ASDP Batulicin Branch General Manager Yudhi Yanuar here on Wednesday said the review of the two piers was at the same time to test whether the docks are feasible to operate.

"The development of the Teluk Gosong pier on Pulau Laut and the pier in Sebuku Island is a project using multi-year funds carried out by the South Kalimantan work unit (Satker)," he said.

The project with a budget of around Rp23 billion is estimated to be completed before January 2019. Therefore, a review is made on the extent to which the dock is ready to operate. The project was delegated by the satker to be further managed by BPTD.

The results of the review and trial of loading and unloading of passengers on two docks on December 5 showed that it was not possible to operate. The problem is that the construction on the pier's edge is too high resulting in the ship's door being unable to open properly when the ship docked.

"According to PT ASDP as the operator of the Bamega vessel, the condition of the dock needs to be revitalized regarding the safety of the passenger when loading and unloading," Ardono explained.

If the dock is forced to operate with makeshift conditions it is feared that it will be risky. Therefore BPTD South Kalimantan as the manager of the construction of the dock will immediately make improvements and is expected to be completed by the end of December 2018.
