Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The government of Tanah Laut (Tala) and Barito Kuala (Batola), South Kalimantan, expect the local provincial government to handle fisherman housing in their area.

"The hope was conveyed when we visited the two districts a few days ago," said Deputy Chair of the Special Committee on Draft Regulations on Housing and Settlement Areas in South Kalimantan Misri Syarkawie in Banjarmasin on Saturday.

"I think that hope is not only from Tala and Batola but also other districts which are fishing areas," said the member of Commission IV overseeing people's welfare of the South Kalimantan DPRD from the Golkar Party.

Of the 13 districts and cities in South Kalimantan, there are many catch fishermen, namely in Kotabaru, Tanah Bumbu (Tanbu) and Banjar.

According to him, the hopes of the Tala and Batola are quite reasonable, because the financial condition of their area is limited or smaller than the province.

Similarly, the authority to manage and protect marine and fisheries resources is in the hand of Provincial Government as Act No. 23/2014 concerning Regional Government.

In addition to fishermen's housing, he added, revamping/structuring residential areas in the border areas of the two districts is also the responsibility of the Provincial Government.

"For example, population settlements in the Sungai Andai area of Banjarmasin which are the boundaries of Banjarmasin City with Batola," concluded Misri Syarkawie.
