Banjarmasin, (Antaranews) - The Kulaan Banjar Gathering Forum (FSKB) seem to continuously strengthen the relationship (silaturahim) between the Banjar Tribe in South Kalimantan (Banua) and in Malaysia.

Chairperson of FSKB in Banjarmasin Drs Mohammad Ary on Tuesday said the effort to strengthen the relationship was done by visiting each other between the Banjar tribe in the Malay land and the Banjar tribe in the Banjar (Banua) land.

FSKB Banjarmasin has made several visits to various locations of Banjar tribe who have become citizens on the Malaysian Peninsula. They came to the Banjar tribe in the area where they gathered in the Pertubuhan Banjar Malaysia (PBM) organization which had thousands of members.

The newest FSKB Banjarmasin visit to Malaysia was November 1 to 10, 2018. They went to Kuala Lumpur and Bagan Serai, Negeri Perak.

In the Banjar tribe settlement, FSKB members were asked to tell a lot about Banua (homeland). The story makes them always want to make susur galur (family search journey) to Banua.

According to Mohammad Ary, thanks to visiting each other a lot of family relationships which have been interrupted for a long time are finally reconnected.

There was a family from Melaka who wanted to find a family whose ancestors from Balangan, South Kalimantan. But let alone Balangan or South Kalimantan, they have never been to Indonesia. Thanks to the help of the FSKB, the family managed to find their family in Balangan.

Based on the records, most of the Banjar residents who migrated to Malaysia lived in Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and several other locations, including in Kuala Lumpur. It is said that the number of Banjar residents in the neighboring country is up to two million and is now referred to as new Malay.
