Batulicin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews) - State-owned shipping company PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) for Batulicin Branch, Tanah Bumbu, temporarily suspended the operation and service on the Kotabaru - Tanjung Silopo route.

Head of PT Pelni Batulicin Branch Purwadi here on Thursday said the KM Sabuk Nusantara 55 ship which is commonly operated by PT Pelni for the route is undergoing periodic repairs.

Currently, the ship is in Kotabaru Stagen Port for "port stay" or waiting for technical instructions from the Ministry of Transportation.

KM Sabuk Nusantara 55 is the only ship operated by PT Pelni Batulicin to serve the Kotabaru-Tanjung Silopo route, so the company has not been able to provide services to prospective passengers due to not getting a replacement for a new vessel from the Central Pelni Office.

He estimates that routine repairs take around two weeks to a month. But he also did not know where the vessel would be repaired, while repairs could be done in Surabaya, Madura, or Cirebon.

"Routine maintenance is to maintain and avoid things that are not desirable when the ship sails, but basically PT Pelni continues to provide the best service to service users who want to sail with PT Pelni," he explained.
