Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The South Kalimantan Livestock and Plantation Agency has developed Alabio ducks in the 38th World Food Day area in Jejangkit Village, Barito Kuala District.
Head of the agency Suparmi was met when the release of ducks in Jejangkit Village Tuesday. She said duck development in the village is as an integrated agriculture model.
According to her, the South Kalimantan Provincial Government is currently developing an integrated agriculture program to improve the welfare of farmers and breeders.
"In the first phase, we allocated 12 packages for each household head (KK) with a total of 50 male and female ducks for each package," she said.
The program, she added, is a rolling program, which is expected to be developed by all farmer groups in the area.
Why ducks, she said, because Alabio duck is South Kalimantan's germplasm (plasmanutfah), whose superiority has been recognized nationally.
Moreover, the marketing potential of ducks is very large. Every day 3 thousand ducks can be prepared to meet market needs. "I will also build cooperation with several regions, such as with DKI for marketing this duck," she said.
According to Suparmi, agricultural areas that will be used to commemorate World Food Day are very potential for the development of integrated agriculture.
"The harvested rice usually also produce bran, the bran can be used to feed ducks, also cattle and others," she said.
"The Agriculture Minister said he was very happy with the release of the duck, and hoped that this potential could continue to be developed," she told.
