Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - South Kalimantan's Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) embraced Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) to cooperate in research and development.


"We are cooperating with ULM for ecosystem recovery through rehabilitation and restoration," said Head of South Kalimantan BKSDA Dr. Ir Mahrus Aryadi.

The signing of the cooperation was carried out in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Forestry ULM between the Head of BKSDA and Vice Chancellor IV Prof. Dr. Ir. H Yudi Firmaul Arifin and witnessed by the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry Ir. H Sunardi and the academic community both lecturers and students of the faculty.

In addition to institutional strengthening in the form of improving human resources, cooperation also includes preservation of flora and fauna in the form of identification, inventory, habitat and population development, species rescue, assessment, research and development.

Prof. Yudi said, if viewed from the natural resources side could not be renewed is more popular in South Kalimantan. But actually, he said, renewable natural resources such as forest products must also be developed.

According to him, forest products in South Kalimantan are very abundant, but problems often occur, namely damage caused by human activities.

Through cooperation, both parties are expected to contribute maximally to overcome social forestry problems both in terms of flora and fauna in the South Kalimantan.

In the event also held a public lecture related to natural resource and ecosystem policies delivered by the Director General of Conservation and Natural Resources and Ecosystems (KSDAE) Ir Wiratno.
