Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has recorded a surplus of 553.69 million US dollars in the trade balance of South Kalimantan's import and export in August 2018, smaller than July 737.90 million US dollars.
"South Kalimantan's trade balance still shows a positive value so that August's import exports have a surplus," Head of BPS South Kalimantan Diah Utami said in Banjarbaru, Sunday.
She said the trade balance in South Kalimantan's exports in August was 739.98 million US dollars down 17.46 percent compared to July which reached 896.44 million US dollars. While imports rose from July 158.55 million to 186.20 million in August, up 17.44 percent.
"South Kalimantan exports in August 2018 when compared to August 2017 which reached 655.01 million increased 12.96 percent, while imports rose 130.22 percent," she said.
The main commodity contributing to the largest export was the mineral fuel group valued at 622.51 million, down 15.35 percent compared to exports in July. Then animal/vegetable fats and oils worth 104.9 million also decreased by 22.11 percent.
The third was groups of timber and wood goods with an export value of 4.96 million, down 42.2 percent compared to July which reached 8.58 million.
The main export destination is China with a value of 198.53 million, Japan 170.63 million and India 89.37 million.
Meanwhile, South Kalimantan's main commodity imports from the mineral fuel group were 179.91 million, mechanical machinery/aircraft group 2.23 million and chemical products 1.48 million.
"The main import supplier countries are Singapore 128.06 million US dollars, Malaysia 55.05 million US dollars and China 1.14 million US dollars," she said.
