Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The South Kalimantan Government sent the state civil apparatus (ASN) to take a short course on forestry to Finland. They will learn to better manage the forest.

The Provincial Secretary Abdul Haris in Banjarbaru on Thursday said the sending of ASN as short course participants is a follow-up to the agreement with Finland in the field of forest management and natural resources.

"The Government of Indonesia and Finland have signed a memorandum of understanding in Helsinki on 7 April 2018 which was followed up with the delivery of ASN as course participants," the secretary said after the see-off of participants in the South Kalimantan Forestry Agency Office yard on Jalan Ahmad Yani km 35 Banjarbaru.

According to the regional secretary, who was accompanied by the Head of the Forestry Agency Hanif Faisol N, forest management in Finland was carried out well, fulfilled the rules, and provided benefits to the community.

"We see firsthand how the Finnish government manages the forest so that it benefits the community and life," said the secretary who represented the provincial government in Finland last April.

Forest management in Finland is done by not cutting down the trees sporadically, but regularly, so that they can be utilized optimally.

The Head of the Forestry Agency said participants would take courses from October 5 to November 18, 2018, in Finland using the 2018 South Kalimantan Budget amounting to Rp2.1 billion.

"9 participants consisted of one from Lambung Mangkurat University, 6 from South Kalimantan Forestry Office, and 2 KPH (Forest Management Unit)officers, studying forest management in Finland," he said.
