Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews) - The Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) chancellor selection process for the 2018-2022 period reached its climax on Wednesday (12/9) after Prof. Sutarto Hadi was re-elected by winning 59 votes.


The incumbent candidate set aside two other candidates, Prof. Dr. Zairin Noor and Prof. Dr. HM Hadin Muhjad who respectively won only 23 and 7 votes.

The voting was closed in the Meeting Room of the 3rd floor of the ULM Rectorate Building. 58 votes of members of the ULM Senate and 31 votes of the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Menristekdikti) contested by the three candidates.

Menristekdikti was represented by the Head of Legal and Organizational Bureau, Secretariat General of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education Ani Nurdiani Azizah SH MSI who was given the mandate to bring the minister's voice.

The Chairperson of the ULM Senate, Prof. Dr. Ir H Gusti Muhammad Hatta, admitted that he was grateful that the stages of the election of the Chancellor had ended and proceeded smoothly with a very democratic process.

"We immediately convey this result to the minister for the inauguration because Sutarto will end his term on September 19," said Pak Hatta, the former Minister of Environment and Minister of Research and Technology as he usually is called.

While Sutarto Hadi expressed his gratitude to the Senate members and the election committee for successfully completing the entire process with the climax of voting with the Menristekdikti.

On the other hand, Prof. Dr. Zairin Noor admitted he was legowo (feel relief) and ready to fully support the performance of the elected chancellor for the better progress of the ULM in the future.
