Barabai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The District Miitary Command (Kodim) 1002 Barabai, Central Hulu Sungai, quickly came to the location of land burning after a hotspot was detected in Haruyan Subdistrict.
The Haruyan Rayon Military Commander (Danramil) Captain Inf Andi Tiro said here on Wednesday the hotspot observed by the satellite in Batu Panggung Village in the form of burning land.
"We and members of the Haruyan police went directly to the location of the hotspot detected by the satellite and found a former burned area," Andi told.
What they found was burnt bushes reached two hectares allegedly due to the activities of opening agriculture areas.
The ranks of Kodim and Koramil (Rayon Military Command) then visit local people and asked them not to burn land.
They warned of severe sanctions for the perpetrators of burning land and forests in accordance with Forestry Law No. 41/1999 Article 78 with a maximum prison sentence of 15 years and a fine of Rp5 billion.
Also Law No. 32/2009 concerning the protection and management of the environment with a sanction of at least 3 years and a maximum of 10 years and a fine of a maximum of Rp10 billion.
