Tanjung, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Tabalong Legislative Council discussed the fate of hundreds workers of PT Power Tech, sub-contractor working on the construction of a coal-fired power plant (PLTU) in the district.

Councillor Mursalin who presided the meeting in Tanjung Friday said, in a written complaint to the assembly, the workers demanded an unpaid shortage of wages that did not match the District Minimum Wage (UMK).

"We received a written complaint from Power Tech workers July 10, 2018," explained the commission 2 member.

The hearings related to the demands of 191 PT Power Tech workers were attended by the head of the local Manpower Agency, representatives of the All Indonesia Labor Union (SBSI) branch executive board (DPC), NGOs and workers.

A spokesman for the workers Larson said they had only been paid Rp1.6 million per month, whereas the Tabalong UMK was Rp.2,535,000 and the management had agreed to pay the shortage.

"In addition to shortages of salary and overtime, workers demand THR (Idul Fitri holiday bonus) which until now has not been paid," Larson explained.

A number of councillors said they would hold a follow-up meeting by presenting the management of PT Power Tech and the Regional Labor Inspection Center III in Balangan District.

"The council will schedule a follow-up meeting by presenting company management," explained Sumiati, a DPRD member.

Tabalong Manpower Agency head Syaiful Ikhwan even suggested the workers to submit this matter to the Industrial Court because Power Tech's management had not yet realized the results of the agreement.

"The Manpower Office has facilitated workers' demands and produced a joint agreement, but the company has not yet realized it," explained Syaiful.
