Tanjung, (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Tabalong, South Kalimantan, Health Agency targets to immunize 71.564  children between the age of 9 month and 15 years against measles dan rubella (MR).


Head of the agency's Disease Control and Eradication Muhammad Aries in Tanjung on Wednesday said the number covers 95 percent of chidren in the district.
 
"Today we kick off the MR immunizatin with a target of 95 percent of children and toddlers," Aries remarked.

The immunization for children between the age of 9 month and 15 years begin in August to end in September in evert health facility.

The kick off of immunization was marked with a shot in arm as the first vaccine given to an elementary school student and a toddler at the yard of Puskesmas (community health center) Mabuun witnessed by Regent Anang Syakhfiani and Chairwoman of Family Welfare Movement (PKK) Syarifah Syifa and representatives from the H Badaruddin Tanjung District Hospital and dan Pertamina Hospital.

Anang in his speech said that it is the district government's commitment to eliminate measles dan rubella.

"We expect in 2020 Tabalong District will be free from measles dan rubella," Anang pointed out.

Meanwhile, the PKK chairwoman asked the support of all board of PKK in subdistricts and villages to succed the MR immunization.

The immunization is held simultaneously and involving 80 helath workers.
