Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - South Kalimantan Police Chief Insp.Gen. Rachmat Mulyana instructed his ranks to succeed the 2018 Asian Games by, one of which, preventing acts of terror.


Although the largest sports event in Asia is held in Jakarta and Palembang, but according to police chief, South Kalimantan Police helped keep the peace of the area ahead of and during the Asian Games on August 18 until September 2, 2018.

"All the eyes of the world will be on Indonesia, and South Kalimantan is part of the archipelago that territorial conditions must be maintained during the Asian Games," Rachmat told Antara News Agency on Tuesday.

He claimed to date the movement of networks or cells of radical groups both terrorists and sympathizers has not been detected.

Nevertheless, according to police chief, his ranks keep making preemptive and preventive efforts by prioritizing Bhabinkamtibmas (public order officers) scattered in the villages.

"Bhabinkamtibmas must proactively conduct early detection of the development of the community situation in their environment and always improve coordination with intelligence both in sector and resort police. Do not let us get rid of it," the two-star general pointed out.

Related to the plan of the Asian Games torch will be paraded through Banjarmasin on July 30-31, he promised to exert maximum security to help the implementation run orderly and smoothly.

The Asian Games torch relay started in Yogyakarta on July 18, then cross the islands of Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, to West Papua. The torch parade continues to South Sulawesi, South Kalimantan, and cross to Sumatra beginning in Aceh.

After in Sumatra, the torch relay back to Java and across Banten, West Java, before arriving in Jakarta for the opening ceremony on August 18th at Gelora Bung Karno Senayan Stadium, Jakarta.
