Banjarmasin (Antaranews.Kalsel) - PT Golden Hope Nusatara (GHN), one of Minamas Group's subsidiaries, by the end of this year will produce cooking oil under the trademark "Alif" which is claimed to be the first in Kalimantan.
General Manager of PT GHN Mohd Hamdi Abdul Karim in Banjarmasin revealed that after the year 2008 built a CPO refinery with a total production of 2,500 metric tons per day, the company keeps moving to produce derivative products from the palm oil plantation sector, such as cooking oil.
PT GHN built a CPO refinery area on a 34 hectare area on Pulau Laut, South Kalimantan, using fresh fruit bunches to be processed into CPO from the Minamas Plantation gardens of PT Lagunan Mandiri, PT Langgeng Muaramakmur and PT Bersama Sejahtera Sakti in Kotabaru district with a total workforce of 13,000 people.
Based on data from 2017 to April 2018, from 23 plantations owned by Minamas Plantation in Kotabaru produced 671,673 metric tons of fresh fruit bunches grown on 70,649 hectares or 81 percent of total 86,924 hectares of concessions outside the community plantation through 21,593 hectare KKPA scheme.
According to Hamdi, apart from Minamas plantation that meet 60 percent of CPO plant needs, GHN also purchases fresh fruit bunches from other parties around 40 percent of the total production needs.
"The production of Alif cooking oil to be launched by the end of 2018 is a presentation of PT GHN or Minamas Group as a manifestation of our commitment to downstream the products of oil palm plantations," he said.
In the early stages, GHN will produce about 300 tons of cooking oil per month from factory production capacity of 1,100 to 1,200 tons per month.
According to him, the packaging of cooking oil to be produced includes packaging of 0.5 kg, 1 kg and 2 kg with concentration marketing coverage for South Kalimantan, then will shift to neighboring provinces of Central Kalimantan and East Kalimantan.
"Through this cooking oil production we will continue to build partnerships with other parties whether it is local government, community and employers," said Hamdi.
Minamas Plantation South Kalimantan Operation Controller for Sebamban Region Khairul Nizam Idris said the oil palm plantation business activities and derivative products are expected to help move the wheels of the regional economy that ultimately lead to the welfare of the people around.
Minamas Plantation in Indonesia operates in eight provinces with a total concession area of ??268,261 hectares and which has been planted 201,364 hectares or about 75 percent.
Of the total area, there are 69 oil palm plantations and 23 factories covering Aceh with three operational companies, Jambi (1), Riau (4), South Sumatra (2), Central Kalimantan (3), South Kalimantan (7), West Kalimantan (4) and Sulawesi one operational company.
