Martapura, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjar District Government makes Tungkaran Village as a hydroponic pilot village by utilizing yard to be planting land with hydroponic system.


Head of Food and Horticulture Crops (TPH) Agency M Fachry in Martapura on Sunday said the agency prepared Tungkaran Village as a pilot since a month ago.

"We train the villagers to plant vegetables applying hydroponics system since one month ago and the result is that vegetables can be harvested," he said.

The hydroponic system uses a simple planting medium utilizing a plastic pipe made by water cycle technique so that normal running water helps plant growth.

The capital used by the community comes from the village funds, so the agricultural counceling officers only provide guidance and techniques of hydroponic free  of pesticides.

"The capital from the village funds and the results are also enjoyed to meet their own needs, if they sell very helpful to the economy of the community," he said.

"Vegetables are free of pesticides. If it sold would be the main choice of society and we are ready to help marketing if vegetable production more and more," he said.

Meanwhile, the head of Banjar Family Planning (TP PKK) Raudatul Wardiyah has visited Tungkaran Village on Wednesday (16/5) to see the hydroponics system of plant cultivation.

"We strongly support the existence of hydroponic villages, including mushroom houses that specialize in producing mushrooms, all of which are good for improving the economy of the people," she said.
