Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Member of DPRD South Kalimantan Hj Syarifah Santiyansyah called attention from various parties related to flood disasters in the eastern region that often happens every rainy season.

"I think it is necessary to study deeply and more carefully the cause and anticipation of the flood disaster," said the legislator from the electoral districts of South Kalimantan VI Kotabaru and Tanah Bumbu here on Monday.

"We certainly do not want the continuous flood disaster in the eastern region, let alone to cause casualties," said Golkar Party politician who holding the law degree.

When accompanying the Commission III DPR South Kalimantan in consultation with the Directorate General of Water Resources of the Ministry of Public
Works and PubliC Housing (PUPR), she also addressed the issue of the flood disaster.

According to a former member of the DPRD Tanah Bumbu, the floods in the eastern region are different from the upstream or Banua Anam areas covering
six districts, namely Tabalong, Balangan, North Hulu Sungai, Central Hulu Sungai, South Hulu Sungai, and Tapin.

"The floods in Banua Anam area are generally due to river floods or dams unable to accommodate rainfall," she said.

"But in the eastern region the rain continues to continue to erodate land and pass through the road, then just enter the river to the sea," she continued.

The eastern region of South Kalimantan borders the Java Sea (Indonesian Sea), except Kotabaru in the east bordering the Sulawesi Sea and Makassar Strait.
