Tanjung, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Hundreds of workers in Tabalong District have their own way to commemorate Labor Day. They gave away food to Kasih Ibu Orphanage in Murung Pudak Subdistrict.
Chairman of the Labor Union of the Tabalong Chemical Energy and Mining (SPKEP) Syahrul in Tanjung on Tuesday said this action as a form of social care in order to commemorate Labor Day.
"In addition to holding speeches at Giat Park Tanjung, the workers who are members of SPKEP also take social action to the orphanage," said Syahrul.
After conducting speeches at Giat Park Tanjung, about 150 workers convoyed with motor vehicles to Kasih Ibu Orphanage in Mabuun.
With an escort from traffic police, the convoy run orderly to the orphanage.
Tabalong Police Chief Operation Comr Joseph Edward Purba explained that previously the SPKEP Tabalong has submitted the activity plan of Labor Day.
"There are about 150 workers who participated in the Labor Day action from the delivery of speeches and the handover of aid to the orphanage," explains Joseph.
One of the workers who joined in, Akhmad, hope this Labor Day commemoration to be a moment of increasing welfare for employees of mining, chemical industry, and energy.
"Workers' expectations are only an increase in welfare," said Akhmad.
