Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) and Geospatial Information Agency or BIG have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen scientific development in each institution.
ULM Rector Prof. Dr. H. Sutarto Hadi said that cooperation with BIG is very strategic and provides great benefits for ULM and the people of South Kalimantan in general.
"We are very grateful for BIG's trust in ULM in utilizing and developing science and technology related to geospatial information," he said after the signing of cooperation at the BIG office in Cibinong, Bogor, West Java, on Thursday.
Sutarto said the cooperation is a continuation of the agreement five years ago when ULM was partnered with BIG to build a Spatial Data Infrastructure Development Center (PPIDS).
So far, said Rector, the server provided by BIG is widely used by students and lecturers to assist in the implementation of research which of course can improve the quality of research results.
"PPIDS plays a significant role in analyzing critical lands and also related research on carbon stocks, especially in Amandit and Barito river basins," he said.
