Martapura, S Kalimantan 10/1 (Antara) - Bi`ih Village in Banjar District, South Kalimantan, is recommended to be a durian tourist icon because the village is known as a delicious and sweet durian producer every year.


"We recommend Bi`ih Village to be a tourist icon because the durian fruit of the village has been known for its deliciousness," said a member of DPRD Banjar Khairuddin in Martapura on Wednesday.

He said the Bi'ih, which is in the sub-district of Karang Intan is widely known to the community of South Kalimantan as a producer of local durian quality for its thickness, and tastes delicious and sweet.

In the village 15 kilometers from downtown Martapura, the capital of Banjar District, various durian with names such as Pangantin, panyangat, the amas, jukung, taruna, and durian cupikan, ranging from Rp20 thousand to Rp50 thousand per piece.

"The name of Bi`ih Village as a producer of delicious durians is increasingly widely known because it is broadcast through social media so many people come especially during the durian season like now," he said.

According to Vice Chairman of Commission IV of DPRD Banjar, his party will facilitate if there are people who want durian fruit trees bear fruit throughout the year and does not depend on the current season.

"We have a method for the durian tree to bear fruit within three to four months without depending on the season so that durian Bi`ih Village can be enjoyed throughout the year," he said.

He said, Gerindra Party through a wing organization namely Food Security Agency Tunas Indonesia Raya willing to teach methods, help with fertilizer, to mentoring treatment.

"Principally, we are ready to facilitate and help the people of Bi`ih Village to become more known as producers of durian fruit," said Deputy Secretary of DPC Gerindra Party of Banjar District.
