Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan 2/1 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Central Statistic Agency (BPS) recorded inflation rate at 0.81 percent in South Kalimantan in December 2017 a little bit higher from November at 0.08 percent.

Head of South Kalimantan BPS Diah Utami in Banjarbaru on Tuesday said inflation rate in Banjarmasin was 0.75 percent, while in Tanjung at 1.58 percent.

"The cumulative inflation rate of December 2017 to December 2016 in Banjarmasin is 3.82 percent, while the cumulative inflation rate in Tanjung is 2.40 percent," she said.

Commodities contributing to the highest inflation in Banjarmasin included air transport, chicken eggs, mackerel, red chili, and tilapia.

Meanwhile, commodities that experienced price decline with the highest deflationary share included papuyu fish (climbing perch), biscuits, household fuels, garlic, and rice.

She said all expenditure groups experienced an increase in the price index, namely the foodstuff category of 2.50 percent, the processed food, drinks and cigarettes by 0.20 percent.

Housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group 0.06 percent, clothing 0.31 percent, health 0.17 percent, education group 0.13 percent, and transportation 1.10 percent.

"The contribution of inflation in January to December 2017 the largest in housing, water, electricity, gas, and fuel by 1.52 percent," she said.

Meanwhile, in Tanjung commodities that experienced price increases with the highest inflation share were chicken meat, mackerel, spinach, string beans, and mustard greens.

"Commodities in Tanjung, which experienced a decline in prices with the highest share of deflation include grapes, cucumbers, cooking oil, rice, and citrus fruits," she said.

The contribution of inflation during January to December 2017 highest in the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group at 1.66 percent.

BPS also noted Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 82 cities experienced inflation with the highest rate 2.28 percent in the Jayapura and the lowest in Sorong at 0.18 percent.
