Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan 30/10 (AntaranewsKalsel) - A total of 65 schools from elementary to senior high schools received Adiwiyata award for their success in implementing environmental programs for the provincial level in 2017.

Head of South Kalimantan Environment Agency Ikhlas, accompanied by Head of Waste Management of Hazardous and Toxic Materials and Partnership (PSLB3K) Ninuk Murtini, in Banjarbaru on Monday said there are 36 elementary schools, 21 junior high schools and eight senior high schools awarded the Adiwiyata.

According to Ikhlas, the seriousness of achieving Adiwiyata also greatly depends on the support of regents or mayors in running environmental programs in their respective schools.

"Actually there are 113 schools that enroll as Adiwiyata participants, but only 65 schools have passed," he said.

According to Ikhlas, Adiwiyata's goal is to create an environmentally cultured and loving environment, which makes the school comfortable, beautiful, harmonious, and cool.

In addition, a supportive environment will also make students critical to maintaining a sustainable environment in general.

The ultimate goal, he added, is to change behavior and provide clean air in the school environment, so that minds love the environment, such as not cutting trees at school or in the forest.

"Adiwiyata school only received a plaque, while coaching money not yet," he said.

Ninuk revealed, she has proposed coaching money but has not received approval from related parties. Whereas last year, the prize were the three-wheel motor, laptop or the like.

Ninuk promised to budget again for next year, such as laptops or at least a trash bin, to motivate schools to implement the Adiwiyata program.
