Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 27/10 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Citylink airline will open a new flight route Banjarmasin - Semarang to improve connectivity in the archipelago, especially in major cities.


Vice President Corporate Communications of PT Citilink Indonesia Benny S Butarbutar in Banjarmasin on Friday said the inaugural flight with Airbus A320 type aircraft will be on October 29, 2017, at around 11:10 am.

"While the flight from Semarang at about 08:40 am and tickets can be ordered since some time ago," he said.

Currently, he said, the aircraft with a capacity of 180 seats have been booked almost 80 percent. The load factor is expected to increase over time so that once-daily flight can be twice a day.

In addition to Semarang, he added, Citylink already serves flights from Banjarmasin to Jakarta and Banjarmasin - Surabaya, with an average 90 percent rate.

According to Beny, currently, Citylink, equipped with 50 aircrafts, is focusing to build connectivity of areas in the archipelago. In addition to facilitating transportation, also to help the government encourage the increase of tourism sector.

Benny revealed, at this time, it is pushing the connectivity of Eastern Indonesia region, such as to Kendari, Ambon, Jayapura, and Gorontalo.

"Those whole areas have now being flown by Citylink, then several other cities will follow," he said.

Why Citylink getting ahead with Banjarmasin - Semarang flight than Banjarmasin - Yogyakarta, according to Benny, Yogyakarta now has been densely full with flights. "So we take a less densely flight," he said.
