Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan - South Kalimantan Governor H Sahbirin Noor appealed to the Association of Indonesian Stevedoring Companies (APBMI) to avoid remissly and stay awake watching the goods entering the harbor because the area is being attacked by illegal drugs.

The governor was speaking while giving a speech at the inauguration of the South Kalimantan Board of Executive (DPW) of APBMI for the period of 2017-2022 chaired by Hj Uzlah replacing H Djumadri Masrun, in Mahligai Pancasila Building, Banjarmasin, on Thursday.

"I appreciate the new leadership of the DPW APBMI South Kalimantan led for the first time by a woman, but we in the provincial government requested synergy of APBMI to join the fight against illegal drugs circulation in this area by actually watching the goods entering the port," he said.

Because, said Governor Sahbirin, South Kalimantan was surprised by the discovery by the police about 1.7 million zenith pills.

"The disclosure of this case has earned the appreciation of the central government until it is rewarded. Once returning home from receiving the award there is another arrest of illegal drugs. This is very severe," he said.

"I asked the perpetrators, what was the drug brought up by? The said by the container?" The container came from where? "The answer is by port," said Sahbirin.

The governor also wondered why such big things with a large number could just pass by the port.

"Oh, maybe by the time the harbor officers were asleep," he joked at the laughter of the audience.

"Please APBMI helps keep an eye on the goods coming into South Kalimantan that can stress the nation, because the circulation of illegal drugs is now very severe, let's fight together," he said.

Chairman of Central APBMI HM Fuadi said to support the wishes of South Kalimantan Governor who expects local APBMI to participate in combating drug trafficking entering through the port.
