Export market demand, as well as domestic, for Pagatan's traditional woven fabrics is increasing, resulting in revenues reaching a billion of rupiah per year.
"In one month, we have to prepare 550 pieces cloth for export," said Abdul Aziz, a Pagatan weaver from Manurung village, Kusan Tengah Sub-district, Tanah Bumbu District, here on Saturday.
Malaysia, Singapore, and Egypts are the countries most interested in Pagatan woven fabrics.
"We recently sent 15 pieces to Singapore at the request of local resident. A few days ago, PT Arutmin Indonesia also bought five pieces for sample for an exhibition in Netherlands held in May-June," he said.

Currently, demand for woven fabrics from Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, is growing, both locally and internationally. The increased demand has impacted production volume and turn over, even reaching billions of rupiah annually.
Prices for Pagatan woven fabrics vary depending on quality and motif. The higher the quality, the higher the price, ranging from hundreds of thousands per piece to millions.
To meet customer demand, Abdul Aziz has been developing weavers in other suib-districts to produce Pagatan woven cloth. Their annual turnover now reached hundreds of million.
"We have been producing Pagatan woven fabrics since 2012 with initial capital of IDR6 million. In early 2016, turnover began to increase to IDR300 million and now has reached IDR1 billion," said Abdul Aziz.
