Martapura, South Kalimantan 8/10 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Criminal Investigation Unit of the Banjar Police, South Kalimantan, arrested two men transporting timber without official documents from the authorities.


Chief of Banjar Police AKBP Takdir Mattanete in Martapura on Sunday said the two perpetrators who were arrested at dawn on Saturday (7/10) were Jum (44) and Sur (40).

"The two perpetrators have been named as suspects as they were proven to carry illegal timber without valid documents," said police chief accompanied by Head of Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Sofyan.

According to AKP Sofyan, the arrest was carried out by Specific Crime Unit (Tipiter) personnel on Enam Takuti Village road and Tanah Habang Village road, Mataraman Sub-district.

Previously the police received information from the public related illegal transport activities of forest products through the two villages roads.

"The public information was followed up and found to be true, and the Tipiter personnel who came to the village roads in the two villages found trucks carrying timber without valid documents," he said.

Police confiscated two trucks used for transportation and timber type of acacia, sengon, polantan, kurihang, restung and binjai wood products they have transported without valid documents.

According to him, the two suspects violated Article 83 paragraph 1 letter b jo Article 12 letter e Law No. 18/2013 on the prevention and eradication of forest destruction with the threat of punishment above 4 years in prison.
