Pelaihari, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) deployed two helicopter water bombers in South Kalimantan to anticipate forest and land fires.

"We have two helicopter bombers in South Kalimantan, and in the near future we will add one more helicopter to be sent from South Sumatra," said BNPB Superintendent Bintang at Pelaihari on Monday.

According to him, the placement of two water bombers helicopters is an early anticipation effort to forest and land fires spread in South Kalimantan.

Based on BNPB monitoring through satellite, he said, the condition of forest and land fire in South Kalimantan always move, if there is the fire will be extinguished.

Especially for Tanah Laut District, he said, the level of vulnerability of disaster, such as forest and land fires, floods, and landslides, is quite high from other districts and cities in South Kalimantan.

He asked the Tanah Laut Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) to play its role and work with related parties, such as government, business, and society to jointly overcome forest and land fires.

Based on monitoring by NOAA and Aqua Terra from January to September 24, the number of hot spots in South Kalimantan are as many as 269 with a total land area burned 1,486.435 hectares.

BNPB is not only doing forest and land firefighting but for drought areas, it does artificial rain and others.

Separately, Regent Bambang Alamsyah said Tanah Laut Government together with the relevant parties continue to try to anticipate the forest and land fires.

"We hope forest and land fires or other disasters not to happen in the Tanah Laut," he said.
