Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The South Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda) has secured 12 bodong cars or cars which have no legal documents.

Head of South Kalimantan Police Brigadier General Rachmat Mulyana in Banjarmasin on Monday said, in this case, two actors, AH alias H alias F (32) and S alias AH (32), were secured.

The disclosure of the syndicates of the bodong cars originated from a report by Baidawi, a victim, who bought Toyota Avanza from the perpetrators.

The victim was promised to be given valid documents, such as vehicle registration certificates (STNK) and vehicle ownership documents (BPKB), but was not fulfilled. Finally, the victim reported to the General Criminal Investigation Directorate on August 28, 2017, for fraudulent car sales without documents.

The crime unit police (Jatanras) then arrested the two suspects on Jalan Sultan Adam, Mandiri Housing Complex, Banjarmasin.

According to the police chief, the modus operandi of the suspect was buying a car with no clear origin, then mortgaged or resold it to others with a low price ranging from Rp20 million to Rp50 million.

"When selling, the perpetrators promised complete documents to follow and only give the STNK, of course with the price under the market so that prospective buyers are tempted," he explained accompanied by Deputy Police Chief Sr Comr Nasri and Director General Crime Investigation Sr ComrSofyan Hidayat when exposing suspects and evidence.

To get a lot of cars, the suspect also works as a foreclosure of bad loans at a finance company.

"So the confiscated car that should be handed over to the company was embezzled by the suspect by mortgaging or selling it," he said.
