Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The government owned water company PDAM Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, is engineering the distribution of clean water to its customers to face the dry season.

Director of PDAM Kotabaru H Noor Ipansyah here on Thursday said engineering of distribution techniques are needed in order the existing water can be utilized by customers longer and maximum.

"If the clean water in the embung (artificial lake or reservoir) is currently only for two months, then by engineering water distribution can be enough for three months or more," said Ipansyah.

One of the distribution engineerings is by implementing distribution schedule to the customer. This way makes the customer maximize the utilization of clean water.

Scheduling will be adjusted to the condition of clean water discharge in the embung of Ulin Mountain and embung Tirawan.

God willing, he added, there will be no barrel on the sidewalks to queue up like the previous year.

According to Ipansyah, the discharge of clean water ponds or reservoirs of Ulin Mountain and Tirawan each has a capacity of about 250 thousand cubic meters.

Clean water from the Ulin Mountain Reservoir is for customers in the Sei Taib service area to Central Kotabaru.

Meanwhile, Tirawan reservoir is for customers in the Baharu-Hilir service area and parts of Central Kotabaru.

Ipansyah explained that the source of clean water from the dam is not reliable anymore, because the three dams in Kotabaru are now dry, namely the dam of Tirawan Mountain, Manding Mountain and Perak Mountain.

Although three dams are dry, and water debit of two embung have begun to shrink, customers need not to worry.
