Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 15/8 (AntaraKalsel) - A total of 130 inmates from various prisons across South Kalimantan were freed after they received special remissions on Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.

"More than one hundred inmates immediately breathe free after receiving a remission on August 17th Independence Day," said the Head of the Law and Human Rights Ministry (Kemenkumham) in South Kalimantan Imam Suyudi here on Tuesday.

On the anniversary of the independence this year, there are 5,612 convicts across South Kalimantan who received remission.

"We hope that inmates will interpret the day of independence with joy and correct mistakes with various skills as an independent stock when returning to the community," said Imam Suyudi in symbolical handover of remission letters in Mahligai Pancasila Building on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, South Kalimantan Governor H Sahbirin Noor when symbolically giving remission letters to the recipients congratulated them and hope they can live independently and work after returning to the community.
