Banjarmasin hosts Gowes Pesona Nusantara 2017

Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) -  The capital city of South Kalimantan will host a national cycling touring event Gowes Pesona Nusantara 2017 held by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

"The implementation will be on July 29," said Head of Banjarmasin Youth and Sports Agency Noor Djaya here, Friday.

The city of Banjarmasin is among the 90 districts and cities crossed by Gowes Pesona Nusantara. Besides Banjarmasin, this cycling touring will also cross Banjar and Tanah Laut district in South Kalimantan.

In Banjarmasin, it is targeted that 1,000 cyclists take part in the cross-provincial touring. Therefore, the event is considered to benefit the promotion of the local tourism.

The Gowes Pesona Nusantara is for sports and health, as well as a means of introducing the charm of a tourist attraction.

"It means that our region gets free promotion from this national event," he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Imam Nahrawi released participants of Gowes Pesona Nusantara 2017 in Sabang City, Nangroe Aceh Darussalam on May 13. The cyclists will estafette to complete the journey to Magelang, Central Java. Magelang is the cycling point of this event.

Apart from Sabang, cyclists also departed simultaneously from Tarakan, Atambua and Merauke.
