The Kotabaru Education and Culture Office launched the mathematics method of GASING (easy, fun, and enjoyable) training program for elementary school (SD) teachers and students

Asisten III for General Administration Selamet Riyadi, who represented Kotabaru Regent M Rusli, said the program is a crucial foundation for developing intelligent and responsible generation.

“The district government of Kotabaru welcomes this activity. Gasing method has proven effective in making students learn mathematics in more enjoyable way. We hope teachers will make the most of this training, then apply it in the classroom,” he said.

Selamet said that Kotabaru is the first in South Kalimantan to implement this method and it is expected to improve the quality of basic education, while fostering interest in learning mathematics among elementary school students. 

Acting Head of Kotabaru Education Office Taufikkurahman acknowledged that Gasing method is an important breakthrough in learning mathematics.

Of the total 258 elemetary schools in Kotabaru, 32 teachers and 64 students were selected to participate in the training.

“This is a pride, because Kotabaru is one step ahead, while other districts will only implement it in 2026. Gasing method is known as an alternative approach that makes math less difficult and no more afraid for students,” said Taufiq.

This method helps students comprehend the concept of numbers through simple yet effective exercise. It is hoped that teachers who participate in the training will be able to apply it more creatively in the classroom.

“I'm very interested in Gasing method that can make children enjoy math more. It also helps teachers in teaching, so math is no longer a feared subject,” said one of participating teachers Fitriyani from SDIT Al Izzah.
