Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 21/6 (AntaranewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) conducted urine tests on pilots and flight attendants at Syamsudin Noor Airport in Banjarbaru.


"We do urine test on all pilots and crew such as stewardess and male crew who was on duty as many as 30 people ," said Head of BNNP's Examination Section Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) Edy Saprianadi SH in Banjarbaru, Wednesday.

The results of the test on inspection, said Edy, 14 men and 16 women pilots and crews of Garuda Airlines, Lion Air and Wing Air were all negative.

Not only the crew, BNNP, assisted by BNNK Banjarbaru from Eradication Section, P2M Section, and Rehabilitation Section, also conducted urine test on a number of airport officers. Among them ground handling and technique employees of Syamsudin Noor Airport consisting of 62 men and two women.

The results of urine tests were the same, noofficers in the airport found to use drugs.

Edy revealed, urine tests will continue to be held randomly and without prior notice to know if there is drug use by the flight crew and also airport officials.

"The activity also coincides with Lebaran holidays season, so we want to ensure the safety of airplane passengers in the absence of pilots taking drugs before flying," he said.
