Banjarbaru police busts document counterfeiters

Banjarbaru, (Antaranews South Kalimantan) - Crime investigation unit of Banjarbaru Resort Police, South Kalimantan, have busted a documents forgery plot, who made fake driver's license (SIM), marriage book, till land certificate.

Banjarbaru Resort Police Chief Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) Kelana Jaya here on Tuesday said the police secured two suspects with initials FA (46) and IW (39).

"Both are proven to commit the falsification of documents as intended in Article 263 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code with the threat of maximum sentence of 6 years in prison," he said.

According to police chief, who was accompanied by head of crime investigation unit Adj Comr (AKP) Mars Suryo, the two perpetrators were secured by the crime and violence (Jatanras) unit of Banjarbaru Police on Thursday (15/6).

In addition to securing the two suspects, officers also seized evidence such as printing machines and computers used to design and print the fake documents.

"The suspects confessed, they have been doing falsification about a year and has made 240 sheets of fake driver's lisence (SIM), but we believe the number more than that," he said.

According to him, in addition to making fake SIM, FA also made ID cards (KTP), marriage books, vehicle ownership documents (BPKB), vehicle registration certificates (STNK) and land certificate, all are fake, and IW as a marketer.

"The cost of making fake document amounting to Rp350 thousand for SIM C, SIM A Rp500 thousand, ID card Rp250 thousand, marriage book Rp500 thousand, BPKB for car Rp3,5 million and BPKB for motorcycle Rp1 million," he said.

Adj Comr (AKP) Mars Suryo added, the fake driver's license network was revealed by traffic police when the raid and found the fake one different with the original.

"The suspicion was followed up by securing the driver's license and tracing the origin of a fake SIM made by the FA who was also a forgery suspect at the Banjar and Tabalong Police," he said.

Suspect FA, who claimed to have worked in printing in Gang Penatu Banjarmasin, already about a year run the action to make more than 200 drivers and other fake documents.

While IW just four months as a marketer and launched his action by offering driver's license to the applicant who did not pass the exam.
