Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 7/6 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarmasin city, South Kalimantan, received additional garbage about 30 tons a day during Ramadan.


"There is an increase in the volume of garbage in Ramadhan, but only about five percent or about 30 tons a day," said Head of Banjarmasin Environment Agency Mukhyar at City Hall on Wednesday.

According to him, with the many points of Ramadhan cake fair the volume of waste increases. Similarly, garbage from households also increased in volume.

On ordinary days outside Ramadan, the city's garbage volume reaches 600 tons, but this month the communities' consumption that producing waste is increasing.

"It's understandable a lot of snacks for residents for iftar, not to mention garbage from fruits also increasing," he said.

Despite an increase in the volume of garbage, Mukhyar said, the service can still handle it well, because the increase is not too significant.

"Our garbage truck fleet is simply carrying out this much garbage, even the currents are done superbly, handled very seriously, just standard as usual," he explained.

Mukhyar also stated, the number of garbage bank and Integrated Waste Management Site (TPST) that already exist also help the handling of garbage, so that the waste disposed to the final disposal (TPA) in Basirih, no longer large.
