Tapin police inspects expired food products

Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 13/5 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Tapin Police conducted inspection on expired food products in shops in Keraton Market (Pasar Baru), Rantau.

Tapin Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner (AKBP) Zulkifli Ismail through the Head of Sabhara First Inspector (Iptu) H Opa A Wibawa in Rantau, Saturday, said the inspection was conducted to prevent distribution of expired food products.

He said the activity was also to convey the declaration from South Kalimantan Police Chief Brig. Gen. Rahmat Mulyana about the prohibition of stockpiling of food.

"We do the examination as well as convey the South Kalimantan Police Chief declaration about the prohibition of stockpiling food in the face of the holy month of Ramadan," he said.

The head of the Sabhara Unit also appealed to traders and the public, if they knew of any traders who stockpiled foodstuffs, immediately report to the police.

In the event that started at around 08.00 on Friday (12/5) that morning the ranks of Tapin Police accompanied by Tapin Health Agency staffs.

Officers secured some food that was nearing the expiration date and found food that was not listed its validity period.

"For merchants we find to sell food that is not listed in the expiration period we give a warning. If they keep repeating, we will give strict sanctions," he said. 

Meanwhile, Tapin Health Office staff H.Joni Saftariadi hoped such activity is routinely implemented to avoid the circulation of expired foods in the market.
