Karang Taruna forest proposed to be ecotourism

Pelaihari, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Community forest farmers Karya Usaha of Karang Taruna Village, Tanah Laut District, proposed to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLH) to build the forest into ecotourism.

"Seeing the potential of community forest in Karang Taruna Village, then we propose to the ministry to help realize it as ecotourism area," said Chairman of the farmers group Farhan in Pelaihari on Monday.

According to him, the fundamental reason for the proposal, because it has very strategic location. If tourists want to visit Takisung or Batakan Beach, they must first pass Karang Taruna Village.

Event the Karang Taruna Village has the potential of development of farms, fisheries and honey bee cultivation which he believed is quite promising in the future.

With the construction of ecotourism in the village, he said, it will add another business for Karya Usaha farmers group in the development of community forest.

Tanah Laut Regent Bambang Alamsyah strongly supported the proposal of Karya Usaha for the Ministry of Environment and Forestry to realize the ecotourism.

According to the regent, nowadays Tanah Laut has many potential natural tourism that can be developed, including ecotourism.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya Bakar during a visit to Tanah Laut said shet would encourage the proposal to make community forest into ecotourism location.

She acknowledged access to the proposed ecotourism location is very easy to reach for people who want to travel to the place.

"I ask the of South Kalimantan Forestry and Environment Agency to follow up the proposal," she said.
