Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan, May 6 (Antara) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) bestowed an award on Tapin district head Arifin Arpan for his success in developing the agricultural sector and improving the local people's welfare.
The president conferred a Satya Lancana medal on Arpan during the opening ceremony of the 15th Farmers and Fishermen National Week 2017 in Aceh province on Saturday, the district head said in a press statement released on Saturday.
Arpan stated that he received the award for his success in developing the district to increase the local people's living standard.
"Thank God, we have received another token of appreciation from the president in recognition of our success in developing the agricultural sector in Tapin," he remarked.
He noted that the award reflects his seriousness in developing the district dubbed "Bumi Ruhuy Rahayu," particularly the agricultural sector.
"When the evaluating teams from the President's Military Secretariat (Sekmilpres) and the Agriculture Ministry came to Tapin, we showed them what we have developed. Nothing was engineered in the evaluation," he revealed.
The award is not merely the result of his endeavor but also the hard work of his ranks and files and the community, he asserted.
"Of course, we must let the residents of Tapin district know that what we had achieved was to promote the local people's welfare," he pointed out.
