The Regent of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, H Muhammad Rusli has coordinated to the Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) Ministry to increase internet access in "Bumi Saijaan" (nickname of Kotabaru).
Head of the Kotabaru Communication and Informatics Office Gusti Abdul Wakhid said that it was part of the Regent's and Deputy Regent's vision and mission to realize equitable development in the region.
One of which, the regional head wanted to improve internet network access throughout Kotabaru to support digital-based education, public services, and economic growth.
He highlighted various obstacles still faced, such as limited internet network in remote areas.

"When we were campaigning, there were many complaints from the community regarding network, they asked us to build Tower Base Transceiver Station (BTS). There are 65 weak signal points, including strategic points that are still not covered by the signal network," he explained.
His visit to the Komdigi was also to submit a request for support from the ministry to accelerate development of a more even network.
This is in line with vision of Kotabaru Hebat (which stands for harmonious, energic, united, trusworthy, resilient).
"For signal problem, I also ask the office head to immediately follow up by including it in the 100 working days program, and whatever the community proposes we will include in our vision and mission," he expounded.
The Ministry's Director of Digital Infrastructure Acceleration Mulyadi said if there is already PLN network at the blankspot location it will be easy to build BTS, because using generator will cost expensive BTS Tower maintenance. His party will also work hard to provide signals at a number of weak signal points.
To support electricity problem in building BTS, Kotabaru Regent ready to coordinate with PLN.
The Regent was accompanied by DPRD Speaker Suwanti, DPRD Deputy Speaker Awaluddin, Head of Communication and Informatics Office Gusti Abdul Wakhid. They were welcomed by Director of Digital Infrastructure Acceleration Mulyadi, Coordinator of Universal Telecommunication Service Acceleration Lessy Sutiyono, Coordinator of Mobile Broadband Infrastructure Acceleration Fajar Prasanti.
