Pelaihari, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of the Tanah Laut Agriculture, Food Crops and Plantation Agency Ahmad Mustahdi said three sub-districts managed to cultivate onion on five hectares of land.
    

"The three sub-districts breeding onion arePelaihari, Panyipatan and Takisung," said Ahmad Mustahdi in Pelaihari, Saturday (4/22).
    
According to him, onion breeding in Pelaihari is done in Pemuda Village and Ujung Batu Village with an area of ​​one hectare each.
    
While in Takisung, onion breeding is done in Sumber Makmur Village in one hectare area and in Panyipatan it is developed in Kandangan Lama village covering two hectares.
    
He explained that the seeds in the onion breeding comes from central government by using superior seeds.
    
"The crops of onion breeding in the three sub-districts is quite encouraging, 11.7 tons per hectare," he said.
    
The success of onion breeding cultivation in the three districts, he said, will become the forerunner of further development. The captive onion, will be used as seed an of onion cultivation on an area of ​​20 hectares.
    
Separately, Tanah Laut Regent Bambang Alamsyah expressed his joy over the success of this district in onion breeding and invite other farmers to develop onion cultivation.
    
"With this success, it is very possible that Tanah Laut become one of the producers of onion in South Kalimantan, after the Tapin District," he said.
