Rantau, (Antarakalsel) - Detention House (Rutan) Class II B Rantau in Tapin District received assistance to renovate its mosque and library.

Head of Rantau Prison through Head of Prisoner Services Haris said the mosque and library renovation is funded by a philanthropist in Tapin.

"Alhamdulillah our mosque and library prison get the help of renovation from a philanthropist, H Bambang Darmanto," he said.

Haris explained that the prison's mosque which was built in 1980 is too small and its capacity insufficient with the number of inmates in Rutan Rantau.

"The capacity of the mosque is only for 40 people, while at present there are 308 Muslim prisoners in Rantau Prison," he said.

Because the capacity of the mosque is not sufficient, many prisoners must pray Friday outside. Even if it rains, many prisoners can not perform the Friday prayers.

"While the library is very close to the main entrance of the prison, it makes us as an officer to feel anxious, because it is very vulnerable to security officers and runaway," said Haris again.

He hopes that with the renovation of mosque and library, the prisoners are enthusiastic in studying religion, so they can return to the community with a better person.
