Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) forged collaboration with South Kalimantan Regional Police and PT Antang Gunung Meratus (AGM) to develop cattle breeding to support food security program .
ULM readies an educational plantation in Banjarbaru to place 200 cattles for this purpose.
"We have a 481.6 square meters educational plantation managed by the Faculty of Agriculture which can be used to develop cattle breeading and healthy feed," said ULM Deputy Rector II Arief Rahmad Maulana Akbar in Banjarmasin, Wednesday.
Not only livestock, he added, ULM is also committed to develop agriculture by utilizing potential land for rice and corn cultivation.

One of its targets area is Inhutani Pelaihari, Tanah Laut District, where the local community is actively farming.
“We are going to optimize the potential of this land to support food self-sufficiency,” he said again.
South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Inspetor General Rosyanto Yudha Hermawan emphasized the importance of this program in supporting food security in the region, and the main focus is livestock.
The income earned from this program will be channeled to ULM to support education, especially for students experiencing financial difficulties.
Yudha stated that this cooperation is part of the South Kalimantan Police's (Polda Kalsel's) initiative to improve people's welfare through collaboration with universities and private sector.
This program not only aims to increase food security, but also creates sustainable social and educational benefits in South Kalimantan.
