The University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) deployed dozens of agricultural experts to help People's Rice Field Printing (CSR) program, part of government's strategy to accelerate national food-self sufficiency.

"We have plenty of experts at the Faculty of Agriculture, all are deployed as ULM's commitment to fully support the Ministry of Agriculture's flagship program," said ULM Rector Professor Ahmad Alim Bachri in Banjarmasin, Wednesday.

He said that Agriculture Faculty is one of the best faculties at ULM with average A accreditation.

To this end, his party is called to fully involved in assisting the environmental social responsibility (TJSL) program initiated by Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman.

In South Kalimantan, TJSL program is implemented in Bati-Bati village, Tanah Laut District, in the form of 236 hectares of swampland which has been optimized by building 4,800 meters irrigation channels and embankments.

This project includes land clearing on 2,100 square meters area. These efforts are expected to increase agricultural productivity in the area.

Professor Alim emphasized that universities have strategic role in supporting the success of the national program.

Thus, ULM is ready to contribute through research, technological innovation, and human resources development to increase agricultural productivity.

"The presence of ULM together with the local government and related agencies emphasizes the important of collaboration in realizing food security," he pointed out.
