S Kalimantan to pay athletes bonus Rp19,44 Billion

Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 24/3 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The provincial government of South Kalimantan will immediately disburse funds worth Rp19,44 billion bonuses for athletes winning medals in National Sports Week (PON) and National Paralympic Week (Papernas) in West Java, 2016.

"The plan is the bonus for athletes who gain achievement in PON and Papernas in West Java will be on March 28, 2017," said Head of Sports Development of South Kalimantan Youth and Sports Agency Abdul Hamid here on Friday.

According to him, the amount of budget has been approved by Governor H Sahbirin Noor.

"(The bonus will be) symbolically handed over to the athletes in the field of SKB Mulawarman Banjarmasin," he said.

He did not say how much bonus given with appropriate levels of medals achieved by athletes, such as gold, silver, and bronze.

"In essence, the nominal amount given to the athletes is increasing over bonuses in 2012 PON and Peparnas Riau," he said.

According to him, the nominal amount of the bonus given between the athletes who competed in PON and Peparnas also not distinguished.

"It fits the mandate of the Minister of Youth and Sports that the bonuses are given to the athletes should not be differentiated," he said.

Just as a reminder, South Kalimantan contingent in 19th PON in West Java 2016 gained nine gold medals, 10 silver, and 18 bronze.

Whereas in 2016 Peparnas West Java, South Kalimantan won 18 gold, 12 silver, and 14 bronze.
