PLN South and Central Kalimantan Main Distribution Unit (UID Kalselteng) together with the City Government of Banjarbaru have established Mitra Idaman SMEs souvenir center.

The inauguration of the souvenir center, which will be a strategic place for Banjarbaru SMEs to promote products, such as regional specialties, handicrafts and souvenirs, was attended by the Banjarbaru Administration's Assistant I Drs Abdul Basid, Chair of Banjarbaru Family Empowerment and Welfare driving team (TP-PKK)  Hj Vivi Mar’i Zubedi, and PLN South and Central Kalimantan Senior Manager for Finance, Communication and General Affairs Sigit Fanani.  

“We are grateful to be able to present this souvenir center, its facilities, and also increasing competency of SMEs so they can compete to increase sales and maintain business sustainability,” said Sigit Fanani.

He said it's part of PLN's social and environmental responsibility by providing repair of production house, production equipment, business capital assistance, electric motorcycle, as well as training for SMEs, production certificates and branding support to strengthen local product competitiveness.

The Senior Manager said this is a clear evidence of PLN's commitment in supporting economic independence, especially for small and micro business (UMK).

Sigit hopes that this souvenir center will become a new icon in Banjarbaru that is popular to the public and tourists who come to the city.

“The products at this center have been certified and registered with Home Industry Product (PIRT) permit, so their quality are guaranteed,” he said.

Meanwhile, Banjarbaru Assistant I Drs Abdul Basid expressed his appreciation for PLN contribution in supporting MSMEs growth in the city.

“We are very grateful to PLN for their concern in developing small and medium businesses in Banjarbaru,” he said.

Abdul Basid added that such support is expected to encourage Banjarbaru MSMEs to be more widely known and penetrate gloval market, so that they can significantly improve people's standard of living.

Chair of Banjarbaru TP PKK Hj Vivi Mar’i Zubedi encouraged MSMEs players to be more creative and innovative.

“MSMEs must be proactive in seizing opportunities, increasing competence, and looking for connectors or agregators to expand market reach,” she said.
