Amuntai, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - North Hulu Sungai kept flooded. The worst hit areas is Banjang sub-district.


Two villages are isolated due to overflow of Balangan River, namely the Danau Terate village and the Murung Padang.

Head Section of Trantib (Security and Order) of Banjang Sub-district, Iswan Rosadi, in Amuntai on Tuesday said the residents of these villages were confined by flooding. Both are far from highway, so people used boat or canoe to move out of homes.

"We have asked that the government help to evacuate residents to enable them to get assistance and medicines," said Iswan.

A resident of Banjang, Haji Murad, asked the local government to build concrete deck on the banks of Balangan River higher than the water level because there are still some points the water overflow and inundating residential and agricultural lands.

Thank God, he said, the farmers have not suffered significant losses because it is not the planting season. Farmers expect the beginning of April or May can to plant as the end of rainy season.

Information from the sub-district, the fluctuated tide of Balangan River more frequently inundated residential areas resulted assistance can not always be distributed, such as in Banjang.

Based on the monitoring, since it rains in last two days a number of roads are still flooded, such as the Jalan Kuripan, particularly at front of KPUD and the front of HSU police chief residence.
